PROMPTING STORIES Fall 2026 Session is an all-levels, prompts-based, short story (fiction) class.
Each week, students are assigned a story to read and a prompt to write the first rough draft of their own story. In each session we’ll discuss an element of craft, the assigned story and some student work.
This course is designed to be a safe, supportive space in which writers can get into or back into their writing practice. We do not critique or workshop drafts. Instead we commit to writing, sharing and receiving with generosity.
By the end of this course, students will have a 1-4 page rough draft of FIVE short stories that can be further developed on one’s own, through the advanced class or WRITING POD (when those are offered).
